Privacy Policy
Overview
Really Remote ("the App") is a mobile application that allows users to remotely interact with tmux terminal sessions on their own devices over a network connection. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the App.
Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal information.
Particle Waves Technology LLC is founded on the principle that privacy is a natural right. We believe your tools exist for your own productivity, and should not surveil you. Your devices are your property, and your information should only be monetized or otherwise used if you explicitly consent to such an action. We will never store, sell, or exploit your personal data for any purpose.
Note: When you download the App through the Apple App Store, Apple may collect purchase-related information (such as your Apple ID and device type) as part of their transaction process. This data is collected and managed by Apple under their own privacy policy, not by Particle Waves Technology LLC.
The App operates entirely on a peer-to-peer basis between the user's mobile device and the user's own server. Specifically:
- The App does not require account creation or login.
- The App does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal identifiers.
- The App does not collect location data.
- The App does not access the device's camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or other sensitive device features.
- The App does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or similar tracking technologies.
- The App does not contain any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
Network Communication
The App connects directly to a WebSocket relay server configured by the user. All network communication occurs exclusively between the user's mobile device and the user's own server. No data is routed through, stored on, or accessible to Particle Waves Technology LLC.
The one exception is optional push alerts, which necessarily involve Apple as the delivery service — see “Push Notifications” below. That path still does not involve any Particle Waves server; the notification is sent by your own relay to Apple.
Data Storage
The App may store default user-configured settings (such as server IP address and port number) locally on the device. This data is not transmitted to Particle Waves Technology LLC or any third party.
Third-Party Services
The App contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking frameworks of any kind.
Two Apple services are used, both only at your request and neither for analytics: Apple's Push Notification service, if you enable alerts (see below), and the App Store, if you buy the optional Pro upgrade. Apple's own privacy policy governs both.
This website uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are read. That is the website only — it is entirely separate from the App, which contains no analytics. You can block it with any content blocker.
Push Notifications (Apple Push Notification service)
This section applies only if you enable push alerts, an optional paid feature. Free users are never registered for notifications and no data described here leaves your machine.
Really Remote can alert you when the agent on your machine needs your attention. Those alerts are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service (APNs), because that is the only way iOS and watchOS accept a notification while the app is closed.
What is sent, and by whom. The push is sent by your own relay server — the software running on your own computer — directly to Apple. It is not routed through Particle Waves Technology LLC, and we never see it. Each notification contains:
- a device token: an opaque identifier Apple issues for this app on your device, which lets Apple route the alert. It is stored on your own relay and is not personally identifying by itself;
- a short title, such as “Really Remote — Ready” or “Really Remote — Needs you”;
- a short body derived from your session: the headline or question your agent is waiting on, for example “Create demo.txt?”. Where the agent offers choices, those choices are included so you can answer from the notification.
This means a small amount of text derived from your terminal session is transmitted to Apple when an alert fires. It is a summary line, not your session history or its output — but it is content from your session, and you should know that before enabling the feature. Apple's handling of it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one.
How to avoid it entirely. Alerts are off unless you (a) hold the paid Pro unlock and (b) grant notification permission when iOS asks. Decline the permission, or revoke it later in iOS Settings, and no push is ever sent. Everything else in Really Remote continues to work — the feature is additive.
In-App Purchases
The optional one-time Pro upgrade is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment details, billing address, or Apple Account credentials. Whether you own the upgrade is determined on your device from Apple's receipt; no purchase record is sent to us, and there is no account to create.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the App collects no personal information, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Any changes to this policy will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. August 26, 2026: added the Push Notifications and In-App Purchases sections, and disclosed this website's use of Google Analytics. The earlier version predated the optional push feature and stated that no data reached any third party; that is accurate for the App itself but was not accurate once push alerts are enabled, since delivery requires Apple. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. Because the App does not collect, sell, or share any personal information, there is no personal information to disclose, delete, or opt out of selling.
Nevada Privacy Rights
Under Nevada law, consumers may opt out of the sale of their personal information. The App does not sell personal information.
